Thayu Farm

Our Story

Thayu Farm was established in 2022, two years after opening the Tesifa Children’s Home. The goal was simple yet powerful — to create a sustainable source of food and income for the home, and eventually provide land to house expanded facilities. Since then, the farm has become the heart of Tesifa’s sustainability efforts — where care, community, and cultivation meet.

Why It Matters

Thayu Farm is more than a source of food — it’s a place of growth, learning, and purpose. The farm not only supports the children’s home with fresh produce, eggs, and meat, but also gives our children hands-on experience in farming, animal care, and sustainability. It’s where they learn responsibility, discover their strengths, and explore passions that may shape their future.

“We’re not just growing food — we’re growing confidence, skills, and a mindset of possibility.”

Our Projects

Chicken Project

Chicken Project

Our chicken project began with just 100 birds — enough to test whether sustainable poultry farming could truly support the children’s home. That first phase achieved 6% sustainability, proving the model works. With this success, we’re now expanding to full capacity with a larger coop designed to house 1,000 chickens, creating food security and reliable income for the future.

Goat Project

Goat Project

Our latest initiative, focused on building a healthy herd to provide both nutritious meat for the children and sales to local markets. This project is still growing, with more breeding and feed improvements underway.

Future Dairy Project

Future Dairy Project

The next phase in our sustainability journey — producing milk and dairy products to nourish the home and create future revenue for expansion.

What’s Next

As we continue to grow, our focus is on scaling the Chicken Project — Phase 2 of our journey. This expansion will allow us to raise up to 1,000 chickens, meeting the home’s needs while creating sustainable income through chick and egg sales.

Phase 2 isn’t just about more chickens — it’s about building a stronger, self-reliant foundation for the children’s home and the community around it.
